About the Writers
I’m Galo Orbea and currently 22 years old. For those of you who don’t know me, I am from Ecuador and have been playing competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! since 2007. I moved to Boston, MA in 2011 to study Economics, since then have accumulated a total of seven premier tops (including a YCS win) all with different decks. What I most enjoy about the competitive scene is meeting new people, traveling to distant places and seeing old friends from past events.
My name is Jonathan Moore. I’ve been collecting since 1st ed LOB came out, and played competitively from 2007 to 2009. I have over 20 regional tops, as well as three YCS top 16’s including a win in 2008 with the Six samurai and the first to ever top with six samurai the week they came out. I typically don’t go with “tier” decks, even though one of my three tops was troop dupe. I like to innovate my own decks and play the low-tier hero, but always play it to win because winning is what’s fun when you play any game. I’m coming back to the scene in force, and plan to play competitively again instead of being just a vendor, and want to share that journey with everyone as well as do what I can do to make the community a better place and help fix what’s wrong in large with parts of it.
My name is Kiley Davis, and I’m the editor for Articles.Hotsaucegames. I started playing Yu-Gi-Oh! toward the end of 2002, but didn’t actually start playing competitively until around 2010. I’ve played practically every deck in modern Yu-Gi-Oh!, though my favorites are definitely Monster Mash-based decks like Mermail. Although realistically, my favorite deck in all of Yu-Gi-Oh! is April ’05 Goat Control; those were the days! I’ve been working in and out of different card shops since 2011, and I feel like I have a thorough understanding of the game because of it.
My name is Ned Salkovitch. I’ve been playing Yu-Gi-Oh! since LOB came out and I started traveling to events in 2011. I’m just an average duelist trying to enjoy his hobby and going to college. Right now I have 2 YCS tops and 4 ARG tops (4 of which were in the last three months). I’ve met a lot of awesome people through this game and have learned a lot over the three short years I have been traveling and plan on sharing whatever I can to help improve the Yu-Gi-Oh! community as a whole.
My name is Brandon 4loko but hopefully you are soon to learn that! I am a Chicago based player, representing team SP-2, that has been playing the game since LOB. I appeal more to the tier 2 type players however I understand the mechanics of the game very well. My credentials include multiple regional invites and I was the first person in the game to do the first ever Yu-Gi-Oh! Wedding Proposal which was displayed on Vexacus4666 YouTube page. I enjoy innovating new and upcoming decks as well as Yu-Gi-Oh! stock market watches.
My name is Brandon Bird and I have been collecting since about 2004. I am 13 years old. I have been playing competitively for about a year and have 4 tier-2 event tops. I topped a premier event before I opted a regional. And have 3 premier event tops and 1 regional top. I have also competed in Worlds!
My name is Aaron Furman. I’m 19 years old and a college student. I started playing when I was in the 3rd grade and have been addicted since. Within the past two years I’ve started to play competitive and travel to events. I have one YCS top, one NAWCQ top, and two ARGCS tops. I’ve met some of my closest friends through the game and got to travel to many different places.
My name is Denny Yu. I’m currently 19 years of age and a full time college student. I started playing the game since about 2nd grade and played casually but never competitively till about 2011. I currently have 3 YCS tops including a win at YCS Las Vegas, and one ARGCS top,(all of which were in a row in the events I have attended). I did not start traveling until this year’s NAWCQ and should be traveling more often in the future.
